Gut bacteria determining behavior?

In this study, scientists found that there is a significant difference in the behaviors of mice without gut bacteria and those with normal gut flora. Apparently, mice raised without gut flora in a sterile environment are both more active and less anxious than their normal counterparts. This raises interesting questions about the connection between host and bacteria, and the bacteria's effect on host brain development and behavior.
